Calendula

Also known as Calendula officinalis

Benefits

Soothes skin, calming, repairs skin

What is it?

Calendula is native to Asia and southern Europe and has been traditionally used in Ayurvedic and Unani systems of medicine. The flower is widely used as a medicinal plant whose antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties make it a strong ingredient for healing. In addition to using whole petals, Calendula flowers can be ground into powder or made into oils, creams, and ointments. It has high amounts of flavonoids, plant-based antioxidants that protect cells from being damaged by unstable molecules called free radicals. It is most used in creams and skincare made for eczema prone skin due to its ability to calm, soothe and heal dry, inflamed skin.
