Natural Remedies For Common Colds: Immunity Boosting Ice-cubes

If you are someone that is more susceptible to catching a cold or flu in the winter months, you have to try these Ayurvedic immunity ice-cubes to help boost your immune system and fight off viruses.

In South-Asian communities, cold and flu remedies are often resolved using natural, plant based herbs and ingredients. As a branch of holistic healing, Ayurveda lays emphasis on synchronising your body's needs with the changing seasons. Ensuring you adapt your diet during the colder season is essential to ensuring your body remains in tune with nature as well as keeping you healthy.

Many of the ingredients in this recipe are used in Indian cuisine regularly and help with the following:

GINGER: Ginger has a long history as a herbal remedy for colds. Its medicinal properties may help to reduce inflammation and soothe a sore throat. Fresh ginger is also antibacterial and may help protect against cold viruses. However, researchers need to carry out studies on humans to verify ginger's potential benefits.

LEMON:  Packed with vitamin C, which detoxifies your blood and boosts your immune system. Lemons are a potent, nutrient-rich fruit with numerous health benefits. In Ayurveda, lemon is known as Nimbuka and Jambira and is one of the few foods that balance all three doshas - Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

TURMERIC:  Turmeric has been a staple of Indian food traditions for millennia and has a long history of healing use (over 4000 years) in Ayurvedic medicine. It is a potent anti-inflammatory and helps to fight inflammation and is considered a natural antibiotic. Adding black pepper to Turmeric can help boost its natural healing properties.
