What is it?

Cumin is the dried seed of Cuminum cyminum, a plant belonging to the parsley family that grows natively in Asia, Africa, and Europe. Cumin seeds are typically sold whole or ground into powder. Cumin is a key ingredient in many Ayurvedic remedies used to treat bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, dysentery, malabsorption syndrome, fever, and skin diseases due to its antibacterial, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties. The essential oils in cumin can help improve skin tone and increase blood circulation. As a natural exfoliant, cumin seeds also promote smooth, blemish-free skin. One of cumin's most beneficial effects is its ability to moisturize the skin thanks to its high vitamin E content. As an antioxidant, vitamin E helps combat free radicals and prevent signs of aging like wrinkles, sagging, and age spots. Regular consumption of cumin seeds provides vitamins A, C, and E to support skin health and slow the aging process.
