An Autumn Reset: Welcoming the Season with Warmth and Balance
There’s something magical about that first crisp breeze of autumn. The air smells different, the light shifts, and suddenly, you find yourself reaching for a sweater and craving a warm cup of tea. It’s as if nature is whispering, slow down, it’s time to turn inward.
As we transition into Autumn, if your body keeps living at summer’s pace, late nights, lighter meals, endless busyness; it could soon feel out of sync! You may find your skin drying out, digestion feeling off, or a dip in energy? That’s when you know it’s time for an autumn reset!
Why our bodies need a seasonal shift?
Autumn is naturally cooler, windier, and drier. The days get shorter, inviting us to rest more. Even the foods at the farmers’ market change—out go the berries and cucumbers, in come apples, pumpkins, and hearty root vegetables.
If we ignore those cues and keep living in “summer mode,” our bodies can feel scattered, depleted, or run down. But when we adjust our routines to meet the season, we feel more grounded, nourished, and resilient.
Simple ways for you to reset for Autumn
Nourish with warm, grounding foods
This is the season of soups simmers on the stove & roasted veggies filling the kitchen with comfort. Ayurvedic philosophy holds that eating warming foods in autumn and winter is vital in order to keep the body healthy and balanced. Small changes like adding ginger to your lentil soup or cinnamon on your roasted veggies, can help to aid your digestive fire and keep your body balanced. Ayurvedic wisdom also recommends avoiding raw, cold foods, as your body works harder to digest these and it takes away from the energy required to power and heat our bodies!
Support your immune system
Autumn if often when the cold & flu season begins to creep in, making it the perfect time to harness the power of natural herbs and plants to fuel and protect your body. Many of these spices & herbs can be easily incorporated into your daily cooking to help boost immunity. To help kindle digestion and reduce toxins try incorporating ingredients like ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, cumin & cardamom into your diet! There are also many teas that can help to boost immunity and health; Tulsi, liquorice and ginger teas all taste amazing and can boost your body!
Create a cozy ritual
The perfect season to slow down and appreciate the little things, time to bring back the rituals of stillness. Smaller rituals can help to ground yourself when everything outside is changing. Body & scalp massages can help to stimulate blood flow and encourage you to focus on yourself for a few minutes, we personally love a calming head massage with the Rich Roots Hair Oil & a gentle body massage with the Migh-Tea Moisture Body Oil post shower!
Embracing the season
Treat Autumn like a reset button! There is no need for drastic changes, it is simply about listening to your body and aligning with the season’s rhythm. Slower mornings, heartier means and softer movements.
Honouring these shifts can help you feel more at peace and appreciate the true gifts of autumn!
